FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF BRINDABELLA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE AND FOUNDER & CEO OF EVT ENERGY...
As Chairman of the Board of Brindabella Christian College, in 2017 in line with our carbon neutral goals, our “Central” campus in Lyneham became home to our Award Winning Zero Net Energy (ZNE) 15 classroom Junior School Wing, supporting over 400 Year K-4 students, and operating as a fully self-contained energy neutral building housing over 100KW of Solar Panel capture and 26.4KWH of intelligent battery storage.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the Eagle Group of Companies across several private interests this entails oversight, professional service, and strategic advice across a range of specialized areas covering both the Corporate and Government sectors and spans across clean energy, technology, interactive arts, multimedia, human resources through to livestock, sports and recreation, education, and training.
It was in my capacity as CEO of one of our Group companies EVT Energy, in 2018 we underwrote the College's ZNE goals by donating $100,000.00 toward a newly awarded ACT Government Zero Emissions Grant to prototype an educational art form for the purpose of inspiring imagination and further the education of our students on reducing global carbon emissions.
Then in 2020 this took the form of a sculptured AUS-E® Intelligent Solar Tree integrated with Intelligent Energy Storage and devised to allow for adding a range of independent stand-alone solar powered products and services.
The prototype was then designed to be a “non-grid connected” stand-alone source of clean energy and also engineered to support at least 2-5 days of autonomous energy supply in a single charge.
In 2021 EVT Energy commercialised the prototype AUS-E® Intelligent Solar Tree and additionally developed, in conjunction with Greenplate Australia, Australia's first state-of-the-art intelligent DC powered Solar BBQ's. The BBQ design was specifically commissioned by Brindabella Christian College to replace existing gas-powered BBQ facilities and assist in beyond achieving Carbon Neutrality.
The AUS-E® Intelligent Solar Tree in its pure form, was additionally designed with removable branches incorporating solar panels which can be replaced to include uniquely enhanced and modified motorised sun-tracking and state-of-the-art tinted translucent glass panels.
The complete Zero Net Energy (ZNE) journey of clean energy on an educational platform, reviewing the various modes of energy capture, storage and effective supply to various devices is also integrated back into TV display screens or can be followed by students on an easy-to-use mobile application; all of which can be graphically set to depict the ultimate effect on the environment in real time.
The AUS-E® Intelligent Solar Tree incorporates being a diverse closed loop energy capture and variable source of clean energy system; whereby numerous additional items can be added externally such as DC Area Lighting, Security Surveillance, Solar BBQ's, Water Chillers and Device Chargers.
In 2023 we are introducing world-class, solar-glass technology rooflines into all our College traffic-able walkways in clear glass tinted in our College colours of Red & Blue alongside introducing the latest technology in Rapid Charge totally "Off Grid" EV Charging Stations for our staff and students of the College.
These Solar Walkways and Charging Stations will further go toward reducing the College's Zero Net Energy Carbon Footprint, and make way for the Electric Vehicle revolution taking the world by storm.
2021 sees the launch of EVT Energy's Educational Solar Tree with numerous additional educational tools and Smart Apps to learn about Clean Energy
EVT's aesthetic and efficient "Wind Tree" sculptures capture energy from wind speeds of less than 10 KPH for integration into our ZNE clean energy targets.
With our "Off-Grid" solar-powered, rapid charging support technologies, compatible with all rapid vehicle charging stations can add 300-400km of range in 15-20 minutes.
In 2023 Norway still leads the world in electric vehicle (EV) adoption where EVs account for more than 20 percent of passenger vehicles in the country and more than 80 percent of new vehicles sold, and adoption is on the rise, making up about 8 percent of new vehicle sales, even in the harder-to-electrify heavy-duty vehicle segments.
Since the 1990s, the Norwegian government has been taking actions to accelerate the EV transition and was one of the first countries to create tax incentives for EV purchases.
The country’s effective economic and social incentives, its reliable power grid, and its demographics have all contributed to its adoption success.
Other consumer-oriented incentives to purchase EVs followed, from reduced road tolls to free municipal parking and use of bus lanes. As EV adoption increased, these incentives were gradually phased out.
Another contributing factor to Norway’s adoption success is its abundant hydropower, which accounts for more than 90 percent of the country’s power generation. This clean energy source supports a stable power system that enables a low-cost, reliable power supply for EVs.
Norway’s EV charging infrastructure is expanding rapidly to meet its growing demand. To date, more than 22,000 public chargers have been installed to service the more than half a million EVs on the country’s roadways.
More chargers are quickly cropping up at malls, gyms, and universities and on highways. In several space-constrained urban gas stations, compact EV chargers are replacing much larger gas tank and pump arrangements.
McKinsey’s Global Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure model estimates that by 2030, on-the-go charging and destination charging in Norway will make up to three-quarters of EV charging profit pools, however, only around 40 percent of total power demand.
In contrast, home charging will provide one-quarter of power demand but will account for only one-tenth of profit pools.

"Defying supply chain disruptions and macroeconomic headwinds, 2022 energy transition investment jumped 31% to draw level with fossil fuels: BloombergNEF" London, January 26, 2023.
Global investment in the low-carbon energy transition totaled $1.1 trillion in 2022 – a new record and a huge acceleration from the year before – as the energy crisis and policy action drove faster deployment of clean energy technologies, according to a new report from research firm BloombergNEF (BNEF).
In another first, investment in low-carbon technologies appears to have reached parity with capital deployed in support of fossil fuel supply.
Energy Transition Investment Trends is BNEF’s annual accounting of how much funding businesses, financial institutions, governments and end-users are committing to the low-carbon energy transition.
Almost every sector covered in the report achieved a new record level of investment in 2022, including renewable energy, energy storage, electrified transport, electrified heat, carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen and sustainable materials. Only nuclear power investment did not set a record, staying broadly flat.
Renewable energy, which includes wind, solar, biofuels and other renewables, remained the largest sector in investment terms, achieving a new record of $495 billion committed in 2022, up 17% from the year prior.
However, electrified transport, which includes spending on electric vehicles and associated infrastructure, came close to overtaking renewables, with $466 billion spent in 2022 – an impressive 54% increase year-on-year.
Hydrogen is the sector that received the least financial commitment at just $1.1 billion in 2022 (0.1% of the total), despite strong interest from the private sector and growing policy support. Hydrogen is, however, the fastest-growing sector with investment more than tripling over the year before.
BNEF’s data show that China was by far the leading country for attracting energy transition investment, accounting for $546 billion or nearly half of the global total.
The US was a distant second at $141 billion, while the EU would have been second if treated as a single bloc, at $180 billion. Germany retained its third place, while the UK dropped one place to fifth as France climbed to fourth.
